A Time of “Quiet” Rest

by Rev Cheryl Birch

I’m in the forest for quiet rest and I am all alone
But, quiet really isn’t quiet, you know.
Today it’s quite a symphony!
Ssh…Listen. You’ll see what I mean.

A bird, then two or three are the first notes I hear.
Then a rushing bubbling choir of a brook that’s near.
Wind rustling leaves and pine tree bows clapping.
Tiny sounds chime in of creature’s wings slapping.

Listen more and hear the chirping of some crickets.
CRASH! Like symbols sounding, huge pine cones hit the thicket.
A crow takes flight belting out a solo.
Then buzzing sounds of bugs in flight add to the oleo.

Wonders of all nature play notes that to my heart call.
The music of God’s creation is the best music of all!
