Reaching Out

unity_hands

He’s the Son
Radiant One
His Light in me
Love like the sea

Expanding my heart
Tearing fear apart
Setting me free
To love like He

Trusting His lead
From my knees
Learning humility
That pride is futility

Embracing peace
Praying divisions cease
Reaching out
Despite all doubt

I may be scorned
Or, even ignored
But, unity must be;
It’s THE key!

Do you really love Him?
Know prejudice is sin!
God created many colors
All my sisters and brothers

Start with a smile
Talk for awhile

Fall!

Grateful Joy_z

Hazy light
Sun low in sky
Longer night
Summer flowers dim and die

Harvest of corn
Bales of hay
Fields look falorn
Pine trees sway

But, Orange galore!
Gourds and pumpkins abound
Woody fragrance I adore
Rusty red all around

Magnificent display
Trees painted many colors
Golden leaves at play
Zinnias boasting, crow hollers

Big leafy piles
Bright yellow and gold
Children’s smiles
Jumping in never old

Such beauty I see
Amazing transformation
Feel like it’s all for me
The wonders of God’s creation!

Retreat

IMG_20140902_150211_011

Rough-hewn, wind carved
Gnarly bark,no pattern alike
Leaning a bit to the east
Giant pines stand guard

Water slapping at their feet
Reflecting their majestic boughs
Strewn rock adorns the shore
Jagged cliff an eagle’s seat

So blue the water and sky!
How deep the hue of both
One clear, no clouds at all
The other ripples, boats go by.

Sunshine warms the sandy beach
Making it so golden
Boulders blackened with time
Sit proudly past my reach

What a lovely place to be
Warm sun, cool breeze
Surrounded by God’s creation
His glory vast and free

My sense of Him ignited
My heart overwhelmed
My mind finally calm
His arms around me tightened

Leaning against His chest
So quiet, so much love
This earth just disappears
This must be His Holy rest!

At the Lake

Water slapping
Bird chirping
Whistle, twitter
Boat dock sitter

Children laughing
Soft breeze blowing
Bobbers afloat
Loud motorboat

Tall pines waving
Butterflies playing
Lots of rocks
Wet socks

Wild flowers bloom
Bees zoom
Giant ants scouting
Someone shouting

Sky so blue
Gorgeous view
Rustic mountains
River fountains

Flies riot
Suddenly quiet
I feel free
Sun warms me

Heart at peace
Sweet release
God’s presence near
His voice I hear

Rain or Fair?

Gunmetal Clouds

Rain or fair?
Gunmetal clouds
Thick air
Intermittent sun

No breeze at all
Sudden gust
Hot then cool
Birds fuss

Tall trees dance
Chimes sound
Should I go in
Or, stick in out?

Quiet again
Clouds moving fast
Quite a show
Looking west

Suddenly warm
Storm passed by
No more alarm
Clearing sky

Each day special
God’s hand creates
Beautiful treasures
In my garden retreat

Rolling Hill

Shock of Purple

Rolling hill
Jagged rocks
Emerald green
Sandy spots

Shock of purple
Flowers abounding
Electric yellow
Orange surrounding

Dark green shadows
Mossy ledges
Blackened boulders
Scruffy hedges

Wind sculpted oaks
Branches waving
Meadow in distance
Beauty amazing

Creation of God
Such joy to behold
Peace floods my soul
More precious than gold

By the River

Rushing water
Sparkling cascade
Clapping, laughing
Dancing in white

Rollercoaster ride
Crashing over rocks
Wet shiny boulders
Glistening black

Swirling, foaming
Suddenly calm
Rivulets waltzing
Reflecting the sun

Washing the bank
Ebbing, flowing
Stick floating by
Leaf joining

Clear like crystal
Pebbles galore
Sharp jagged edges
Minnows explore

Glorious morning
Musical waters
A bit of heaven
Gift of the Father.

I Give Up Lord

godsgrace

Doing it my own way,
Mantra of our present day,
Surely hasn’t worked for me;
Messes up life; causes calamity.

Even from some church leaders mouths
Got advice that’s not always sound.
Steps 1 through 7 rarely work,
Feel good programs produce no fruit.

Went to seminars and classes galore
They help some, but I always want more.
None of it produces more love or power.
There’s something wrong; no Holy Ghost shower.

Then I read John chapter six.
The people wanted a “their way” fix.
Jesus said NO to religious effort by men.
Want miracles? Know, Believe, the One the Father sent.

Oh Wow! I give up, Lord!
Humbly I lean on Your Word.
Bowing down, receiving mercy.
Not my strength, but YOURS eternally!

That’s how love and power flows
Seeking Him and all He knows.
Resting in His arms by faith.
Doing life in amazing grace!

Getting Healthy for God’s Service

food-Healthy-Eating-1080x1920

Every January it seems that attention is turned to holiday overeating and waistlines. There are many articles available on wordpress.com and all over the internet on how to get fit. Yet, still too many of us are struggling with weight, poor eating habits and lack of exercise. I am right there with you dusting my elliptical but rarely getting on it. Then in prayer I heard from the Lord: “I need you stronger for what is to come.” Now, please know I did not at all feel this meant I needed to be strong for coming disaster. Just the opposite, it came to me that in order to walk in the fullness of the power of the Lord Jesus Christ and help people, I need to take care of this temple! So, I will be taking more walks, using my elliptical and eating healthy with a goal that is eternal. Not to lose weight and look better in my jeans or swimsuit, but so that I can be strong in the Lord and the power of His might physically as well as spiritually.

My resolution is to know Him more, to know His heart and love for me and others. Part of His love is to have us healthy and prospering physically even as our soul prospers. With that in mind, I will be adding recipes and other healthy tips to my pages – check out the recipes heading on the side column.

Here are the recipes I have posted in the past Persimmon Salsa and Cheryl’s Sweet Potato Hash and check out the newest one Chicken Jambalaya
I’m just getting started on this section, much more to come.

New Year Blessing of wholeness, strength, joy, and health!
Rev. Cheryl
