Another lovely Garden Day

butterfly-yellow-flower-monarch_484465

Green all around
Sun warms my toes
Distant airplane sound
Pepper plants in a row

Tiny moth flies by
Lits upon oregano
Bird takes to the sky
Bee can’t decide where to go

Palms waving in the breeze
Dragon flies gracefully dance
Neighbor lets go a sneeze
Line of marching ants

Thump! a ripe plum falls
Butterfly finds a yellow flower
Far away a mother calls
Behind a stately cypress tower

Lemon tree loaded with fruit
Bows to the ground
Lots of red tomato loot
No cucumbers to be found

Pool glistens in the light
Sparrow song bursts forth
Two flies pick a fight
Noisy crows head out north

Another lovely garden day
Filled with gifts from above
He pours out a joyful ray
As I talk with my God of love

Thanksgiving to Him

Thanksgiving-Brownscombe

Family gathering
Dining with friends
Thanksgiving beckons
Luscious treats and breads.

Table adorned
Finest plates and linen
Fragrant pumpkin and nutmeg
Turkey roasting in the oven.

Smiles and laughter
Deep in conversation
An argument or two
Football on television.

But why do we gather?
Is it only tradition,
A day off of work,
What is the reason?

The goodness of God
All His provision
Bowed heads and blessing
He is the reason.
